Poem: The Wild Writer

To the wild writer warrior,
It’s been a long time since we’ve spoken,
You’ve been quiet this while,
I’m now listening in.

What was it that kept your tongue?
You always were the one who’d speak up,
Challenge when you saw fit,
Stand up for the vulnerable,
Even if you felt unable.

I’m pleased you’re back,
Here to sit round the fire,
Sharing fables and follies,
With women steeped in fine wisdom.

I’ve learned so much from you,
The looseness of the line,
Magic in the phrasing,
Bringing deeper meaning.

You were right to catch up awhile,
Be the observer within.
Your fire is still burning,
Your energy still healing.

Be here with us,
Gather round the warmth,
Women warriors together,
Sipping from the wild writer’s cup.
