Poem: Ideas Are Like Chess

ideas.jpg

Creative-spirit awakens,
A new day dawns.
What idea awaits it's move,
As if it were a chess pawn?

I wish there were an opponent,
There to help the play.
A board game on my own,
Can limit the fun today.

The table is laid out already,
The pieces all in their place.
Quieten any inner tremble,
Now's the time to save face.

When the clock is ticking,
Calm will ease the way.
I've made these moves before,
Simple logic here to stay.

And when the 'check' is won,
The idea game all complete.
I'll look back and wonder,
Why did I ever fear defeat?
